Raider Updates: Virtual learning For Semester 1

Check in with your teachers for more information. Semester 1 ends on Friday, January 29th. Get all your makeup work in!

DEVICE UPDATE INFORMATION


All students need to have their school device reimaged continue from January 5th through January 19, 2021 by appointment only. High school students are assigned different dates according to grade levels.  Please see the chart below for grade specific dates.  If families have students in various grade levels at Loch Raven HS, all students may come on the same day.   Each student, however, will need to sign up for their own device reimaging slot on the sign-up form.  Middle and elementary school students are NOT included in this round of device updates.  More information will be sent out after the break for these students.  Every student who has a working BCPS-issued device (not Chromebook) must schedule a reimaging appointment. 

Reimaging will occur at Loch Raven HS to ensure student accessibility. Please report to Loch Raven HS following the directions below for your confirmed reimaging appointment. Students are reminded to bring their chargers.

For working devices, students will have the option to:

  1. Drop off the device, leave a phone number and receive a text message to come back to pick up a reimaged device.
  2. Drop off the device and wait for a reimaged device (approximately 45 minutes – 2 hours)

Students with broken devices should enter a service ticket and should not sign up for a slot.  Broken devices will not be replaced onsite.

Students who were not issued a device should enter a service ticket.  Devices will not be provided to students without a device.

Please be prepared to stay in your vehicle and wear a face covering as you interact with staff members onsite. If you are not feeling well, please stay home.  All health and safety mitigation strategies including social distancing and the wearing of face coverings will be implemented during all appointments.

If problem persists or they have a red X next to the speaker icon in the speaker tray then the driver is not installed and they will need to bring their device back to school to fix. This will take up to 20 mins.

Congratulations to our Raiders of the Month!
Raider of the Month Sept

The Raider of the Month program recognizes the many ways our students strive to uphold Raider Nation's expectations.Each month, teachers are asked to nominate a student they feel exemplified one or more of the following areas:

 


Stay Positive: respect, appropriate language, pride in LR community


Work Hard: punctual and ready to work, professional conduct

Make it Happen: strive for success, believe it is possible, work bell to bell

 

Based on the nominations received, a committee of teachers votes on the winners. Each grade level will have one student recognized as Raider of the Month. We will have four winners each month, one per grade. Each student nominated should be proud to be recognized as a Raider of the Month nominee! Thank you for all you do to make LRHS a better place!



Important Information Regarding Student Service Learning Hours Graduation  Requirement due to COVID 19:

At this time MSDE is not authorizing a waiver for the SSL Graduation Requirement.  Based on this information we have worked with content area supervisors and have learned that all infused hours will be offered in a remote setting.  Additionally, after meeting with panel of stakeholders to include BCPS Parents, Students, Staff the recommendation moving forward for INDEPENDENT HOURS IS - Safe At Home Independent Projects ONLY be completed until safety measures surrounding the Pandemic change.

In case you missed it, below is a message from Principal Holmes about the schedule for the 20/21 school year. First semester will be all virtual and you will have 4 classes a day. You will have the same 4 classes all semester meeting Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. A sample bell schedule is also below. Your student schedules should become visible this week (sometime Tuesday-Friday).

Our College Counselor, Mrs. Stephanie Campbell, was named School Counselor of the Year by the Baltimore County Association for Counseling and Development. Her constant dedication to our LHRS students (as well as Perry Hall High) is amazing. She provides support for all post secondary options and does so with great energy and heart.

We are so lucky to have her!
