Model Congress Club

This club, open by application, is a wonderful learning opportunity for students in interested in government, politics and public issues. Students participate in Princeton Model Congress, a 4-day conference held in Washington, D.C., where they act as U.S. Senators and Representatives by researching, writing, and debating bills on topics of current interest.

At the conference, students debate their own and other bills in committee and full chamber sessions. Students also organize, oversee and act as committee chairs at Loch Raven Model Congress, a 1-day conference held for over 100 9th graders in the Baltimore County Public Schools Gifted and Talented program. As part of their participation, students learn and utilize a simplified form of parliamentary procedure.
