It is our mission to provide a quality education in a nurturing environment. We strive to maximize student potential by providing rigorous academic programs that foster life-long learning and responsible citizenship.

At Loch Raven, it is our belief that our students should be life-long learners who are able to apply knowledge in making complex decisions about their personal and professional lives. Consequently, we believe in an interdisciplinary model in which learning is student-centered and we attempt to establish and maintain connections between the classroom and community.

Learning is enhanced by the use of varied teaching strategies, reflecting the Dimension of Learning framework. This model includes development of positive attitudes towards learning, acquisition of knowledge, extension and refinement of knowledge, use of knowledge in meaningful ways, and, ultimately, development of productive habits of the mind.

We seek to foster the concept of curriculum integration and the use of a variety of techniques including thematic centered learning, parallel scheduling, and team teaching. To widen the scope of learning beyond the classroom, we are committed to providing students with a variety of extracurricular activities. We also place an emphasis on values education within the total school environment, and we believe that parental and community involvement in the educational process is essential to each student’s success.
