The Loch Raven Forensics Club is sponsored to provide the students opportunities to participate in organized interscholastic speech and debate competition. Students choose from 10 different events to prepare for the Local and Invitational tournaments or qualify for National competition. Competition on the speech and debate team leads to membership in the National Forensics League www.nflonline.org (the Speech and Debate honor society) which enables students to participate in scholarship competitions for many universities which sponsor college debate teams. Loch Raven belongs to the BCFL www.bcfl.net for local competitions which includes over 42 members from Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Frederick County, and various private schools. The BCFL follows the rules and procedures of the NCFL www.ncfl.org and qualifies students for competition at the NCFL Grand National Tournament on Memorial Day weekend. |
