Visual Arts Program

The visual arts program at Loch Raven High offers a full range of courses allowing students to explore drawing, painting, photography, digital imaging, and ceramics. We currently offer:

  • Fundamentals of Art
  • Fine Arts
  • Advanced Placement Studio I & II
  • Photography I - IV
  • Ceramics I & II
  • Art & Technology

Each teacher in the visual arts program is a practicing artist, as well as a dedicated educator.

Features to Note

National Art Honor Society
We have a very active chapter of the National Art Honor Society. This organization honors those students who have evidenced not only exceptional achievement levels in the visual arts, but also a high standard of excellence of character. Students are expected to use their art abilities in service to the school and others. Students participate in a variety of activities from building and painting stage sets to creating gingerbread houses for the children at Villa Maria. The NAHS has hosted a number of after school Coffee houses as fundraisers. Students display artwork and perform music, poetry readings, etc. at these events.

Students can participate in a number of after school activities.
